Thursday Thoughts: Letting Go

February 12, 2026

I don’t know what the exact word is, but I’m not giving up, just maybe letting go. You hope for success in something, but sometimes it doesn’t manifest the way you imagine.

I don’t think we can live without hope. Hope gives us a reason to anticipate what we want. Hope gets us out of bed, gives us purpose, raises our spirits, and vision for something different or better than we have now. It is light, fluffy, and joyous.

Most of the time, what we hope for pans out. It can appear easily or after a long time and a lot of effort. Hanging on to hope can be both exhilarating and exhausting.

Sometimes, on days like today, hoping for something, especially after years, can be unrealistic. I never want to give up on hope, but at times logic or head over heart wins out. Releasing what we envisioned can be enlightening in a different way. It takes living for a different time out of sight, refocusing you on what’s real and true, in front of you. It doesn’t mean you are pessimistic; it means you’re logical.

So, depending on what you have been hoping for, I “hope” you continue to dream and envision the changes you want. If not, like me, take the colorful vision from your mind and heart and focus on the black-and-white of the situation. Embrace it, and know it is okay to just live in your situation right now. Hope will return one day.

Note: Are you in a hopeful situation
